From Hell-Bourg, the path zigzags up through rainforest to the Bélouve plateau and its lodge, perched on the edge of the cliff. On the way, views over Hell-Bourg and the Salazie cirque reward a steady climb with no technical difficulty.

The path is often wet and slippery: bring good shoes and a windproof jacket. The Bélouve lodge serves meals if you book; strong walkers can continue to the Trou de Fer.
