From the spa district, a loop through the woods climbs the slope to the Roche Merveilleuse viewpoint. The view takes in the whole Cilaos cirque, the village, its hamlets and the cliffs below the Piton des Neiges.

A steady but short climb, fine for children used to walking. Go in the morning if you can: clouds often fill the cirque by midday.
