From the centre of Cilaos, the loop goes down the Porteurs path to the Bras Rouge river and its great waterfall, past a series of falls and pools. The climb back crosses a rare oak forest before returning near the Roche Merveilleuse.
Hike : ≈ 5 h 30 loop · ≈ 900 m ascent · Hard
The water-polished basalt slabs are very slippery: do not lean over the falls. Do not follow the Bras Rouge riverbed beyond the waterfall (collapsed sections). Take plenty of water, the final climb is long.
