At over 2,000 m on the volcano road, a landscaped terrace overlooks the deep gorge of the Rivière des Remparts, cut between high forested walls. On a clear day the view stretches to Saint-Joseph and the ocean.
An ideal stop on the way to Piton de la Fournaise, preferably early in the morning before the clouds rise. It is cool at this altitude: bring a jacket. Stay behind the railings.
