Pointe au Sel

Sights · Saint-Leu

This volcanic headland south of Saint-Leu reveals a wild, wave-battered coastline next to old salt pans turned into a salt museum. It is a favourite spot for sunsets and, in season, for watching whales offshore.

Tips

Keep away from the cliff edge and wet rocks: waves here are unpredictable. Little shade, so bring a hat and water. Humpback whales are mostly seen from June to October.
