Linked to the Bois-Rouge factory, one of the two sugar mills still operating on Réunion, the Savanna distillery reveals the journey from cane to sugar and then to rum: fermentation, distillation and cask ageing. The tour ends with a tasting at the Tafia & Galabé shop.
Guided tours by reservation only, closed on Sundays and public holidays; the sugar mill tour is for ages 12 and up. Long trousers and closed shoes are compulsory; not recommended for people with vertigo or severe asthma, and not allowed for pacemaker wearers. Drink responsibly: plan a driver who skips the tasting.
